Parking Brake Repair

Has anyone completely replaced their parking brake cables? Or know of an online resource that details the steps and parts? On my '95 with rear disc, the rear cables are rusted into place and don't work, also causing the pedal to not stay fully retracted. There's also some issue with the parking pawl wherein it can sometimes take a little effort in rolling back and forth to get it to engage (probably caused by the original FD owners throwing it into park before it has sufficiently slowed/stopped). I figure the more cost effective solution for now is to get the parking brake fixed, but I'm not entirely clear on how it's laid out, or all of the parts needed. I also don't trust Haynes/Chilton manuals to have sufficient information, either.
